Missouri Jaycees,
As many of you know, the southwest portion of our state was devastated last
night by several tornadoes. I spoke with Stephen Coffey this evening and he
told me that there are 14 confirmed dead in and to the south of the Joplin
area. Two of the co-workers of Vice President James Danley completely lost
their
homes. The Webb City Jaycees have been contacted by a local radio station
about getting a trailer to gather supplies for victims of the disaster just
like they did for those affected by the floods last year.
Stephen and James feel that the best way to help people at this time is to
gather supplies for these people to help them rebuild their lives. There is no
list of what is needed. Please use your common sense on what you think you
would need to rebuild your home.
Stephen has said that if we could gather supplies this week for these people
and bring them to the state meeting in Macon this weekend, he will haul them
back to the Joplin area. If you have anything or any contacts with
individuals/Stephen has said that if we could gather supplies this week for
these
people and bring them to the state meeting in Macon this weekend, he will haul
them back to the Joplin area.
Stephen also said that they will be looking for assistance in manning the
trailer in Joplin this week as individuals in that area will be donating items.
If you have time to go down and help, please contact Stephen Coffey at
417-483-1095.
Thank you in advance for your help in coming to fellow Missourians in their
time of need.
Yours in Jaycees,
Lorie Thompson
State Vice President
